Attending Physician Statement: The Attending Physician Statement, or APS, is a written report from a doctor that documents the claimant's past and current health status. Typically, insurance companies use APS reports to determine a claimant's eligibility to receive benefits.

Concurrent Disability: This term refers to an instance where an individual has more than one injury or disability at one time. Even though there is more than one condition that can cause disability, benefits are typically distributed as if there is only one injury or condition.

Significant Earnings Loss Provision: This provision protects the insured from a significant loss of income if he/she should return to work.

Return to Work Provision: Some disability plans include incentives designed to encourage disabled employees to return to work. Rider: A rider is any extra agreement that expands upon the limits of a policy's benefits, conditions, or coverage.
